WHAT clients SAID

Introduction to photography

I had a 1-2-1 lesson bought for me as a birthday present and was very much looking forward to it. Prior to the lesson, Ben asked me lots of questions about what type of photography I was interested in shooting and where in my photography journey I was.

Ben suggested a perfect spot to meet, which set us up for a day of landscape photography. During the lesson Ben had so much information and knowledge to share and was great at getting me to work things out for myself; in order to get the best shot possible. He showed me some different types of lenses that I could use for the different types of shots I was wanting to achieve including macro shots, and also different accessories to make being out and about with your camera a little easier.

Ben made me feel totally at ease very quickly and I felt very comfortable during the day.

After the lesson, we had a debrief on the camera settings, to ensure that I wan comfortable using my camera. After the lesson, he gave me some extra tips and links to some of the equipment we had used during the lesson.

It was a brilliant day and was a great experience, giving me confidence in my own camera abilities. I will definitely return to him again in the future for more lessons for different types of photography styles and would highly recommend his lessons for anyone interested in photography.

Fine Art Workshop

I have been a fan of Ben's work for a few years now, so when I got the opportunity to do a 1 to 1 workshop with him I jumped at it.

I flew from Dublin and met Ben in London. We had a great day with Ben, taking us to iconic modern buildings and imparting his knowledge (which comes from being both an architect and brilliant at his chosen genre of photography) to help us build up a decent library of images to work on. Ben is very easy to get on with. He's very easy going and a great communicator.

The second part of the workshop involved doing a teams meeting where he edited one of my own images, so I could see exactly the where, how and why of the decisions he was making to produce great images. He answered all my questions and explained everything every step of the way.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Ben's workshop to anyone with an interest in learning how to produce fine art architectural images.

South Downs Landscapes + Portraits + camera techniques

One very cold frosty morning I met Ben for the first time. Tripod in position and camera ready he was waiting for the sun to rise and to cast light and show over 'Littledown' on the South Downs Way.

We started a conversation which led to him and his colleague visiting The Grain Store and then to Ben doing some wonderful videos on interior architecture.

From the start I was inspired by Ben, his feel for the land, for place and his generosity. So much so I asked him for a one to one tutorial. And so it was that on another even earlier early morning we set off cameras and tripod at the ready.

Ben is a truly great teacher, patient and kind. He listens and guides in a gentle way readily sharing his knowledge and understanding of the relationship between people and place, photographer and their camera.

If you are looking for guidance then Ben is your person!
